Fraser Suites in Edinburgh
 | Our first stop was the exquisite Fraser Suites in Edinburgh, an upscale boutique hotel nestled just off the Royal Mile. Housed in a historic building, it seamlessly combined the elegance of yesteryears with modern comforts. It was here that I fell in love with the idea of including a brown wing-backed faux leather modern armchair in my renovation, providing a comfortable and stylish seating option that pays homage to the traditional Scottish design. |
Monkstadt 1745 Luxury Lodge & Steadings
Next, we ventured to the Isle of Skye and stayed at the Monkstadt 1745 Luxury Lodge and Steadings (cottages). The main lodge, with its connections to Bonnie Prince Charlie, exuded old-world charm and history. This juxtaposition sparked the idea of incorporating a mid-century wood bed with spindles for the headboard into my guest bedroom, creating a striking focal point that resonates with both classic and contemporary aesthetics. |  |
Lews Castle, Stornoway - Isle of Lewis
Our third stop, Lews Castle in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, was a grand castle overlooking the harbor. The marriage of cathedral ceilings and modern self-catering apartments filled with Harris Tweed accents left me in awe. This inspired me to incorporate a Harris Tweed tartan cushion in mustard yellow into the guest bedroom, a nod to the rich Scottish textile heritage that oozed from every corner of Lews Castle.
The freedom to roam the entire castle and being entrusted with the keys to the front door left me with a sense of belonging and nostalgia. To capture that essence, I decided to include a cable knit throw blanket in my renovation, offering warmth and comfort reminiscent of the cozy evenings spent exploring the castle's historic nooks. |
Mid-Century Modern Guest Bedroom Design | With these inspirations in mind, my guest bedroom renovation will also feature a modern gold free-form ceiling light fixture, symbolizing the allure of contemporary design against the backdrop of Scotland's timeless beauty. Soft gray bedding and pillows will complete the transformation, providing a serene and inviting ambiance that welcomes guests to unwind in style. Scotland's beauty and history have left an indelible mark on my soul, and I can't wait to infuse my guest bedroom with the essence of this incredible journey.
