Become the Architect of Your Desired Destiny
"I am the architect of my desired destiny," is saying that you understand that you are the person responsible for how your life turns out. By identifying as the "architect," you claim an active role in shaping the course of your life. The term "desired destiny" suggests that life is not just a series of events that happen to you, but instead, events that happen as a result of your intentional choices.
This quote inspires a mindset of intentional living, creativity, and a profound acknowledgment of the power each person holds in crafting their own unique destiny.
You are also the architect of the adventures in your life. Don't just dream about going on a once and a lifetime adventure, make choices that help you achieve this goal. If you have never traveled and the thought of planning a trip overwhelms you, simply start off small. Become a tourist in your own neighborhood. Take a walk in a park you have not visited before. Attend a free local event in your community. Venture somewhere new that is a distance you feel comfortable traveling by car to. And slowly build your confidence. I promise you that these little activities will give you the experience you need to one day go on a trip you may have only dreamed of.
You can be the architect of your dreams and vacations too!
In life...
Here is an example of how we can become our own architects at any age in life.
It seemed strange because I was only six years old at the time, but I knew deep in my heart that the ice was where I belonged. I had only been to the rink a couple of times, but I formed a bond with the ice that was truly magical. When I skated, a pure sense of joy and freedom washed over me, and I felt as though I was floating on clouds. It was magical. I couldn't wait to skate again and begged my parents every day to take me.
My mom had an offer; if I didn't cry or cause a fuss at the dentist, she would reward me and take me ice skating afterward. Yes! Here was an opportunity for me to be the architect of my own destiny. If I behaved, I could go skating, something I desperately wanted to do. Some would call this a bribe, but I prefer to look at it differently.
Children don't have much control over the decisions in their lives. Our parents usually make decisions for them and steer their life's path until they are old enough to have some input. But this doesn't mean that children don't have ANY control over their destiny. In fact, children CAN make choices about how they behave and, in turn, get something they want. And that's exactly what I decided to do. I was going to be the most well-behaved kid at the dentist so I could go skating.
Had I cried and fussed and made my mother upset or angry, she might not have taken me skating. Therefore, I would have missed an opportunity to pursue something I loved and was passionate about. So at the mere age of six, I understood very clearly that if I wanted my life to go in a certain direction, I had the ability to make choices to get there. Even though I didn't have full control, I had enough power through the choices I made to get the results I wanted.
In adulthood, you have more power than a young child. And every choice you make should be one with intention. Ask yourself, "Does this choice support my passion and life's purpose? And will it help me get closer to achieving my goals and dreams?" You have all the power you need. You just need to become the architect of your desired destiny.
Say this mantra out loud: "I am the architect of my desired destiny."
You have the power to make choices to steer your path into great adventures.
